Avalanches (Management Report)

Our slopes are released only after any security blasting. But whoever moves away from the slopes, is it the ski mountaineering, freeriding, off-piste skiing or snowshoeing, should definitely acquire information about the current avalanche situation! The report of the Salzburg Avalanche Warning Service is updated daily.

In winter, on natural ice at the tennis court in Viehhofen (ice skates available to borrow for free) or on the frozen waters of the Zeller See. There is also an indoor ice rink in Zell am See.

Outdoor pool

In Viehhofen there is a solar-heated outdoor pool at the Hecherhütte for restaurant-guests, and further swimming pools in the neighboring, or you enjoy the Zeller lake (8 km away) with its beaches.

Ski passes

New in winter 2019/2020: 1 Ski pass for 3 ski areas (Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn + Schmittenhöhe Zell am See + Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun)


Anyone who is not satisfied with more than 270 km of slopes in Glemmtal, may also make several ski touring. Please inform yourself about the current snow and avalanche situation! In any case, the information of the Salzburg Avalanches Warning Service has to be observed.

In winter, a ski bus runs at short intervals between Viehhofen and Schönleiten. Timetables and Info


Ski School

In Viehhofen, you will find Ski Dome Oberschneider in the reception building of Landal Holiday Park.

Skiing & Ski Lifts

In Viehhofen, there is a bunny lift for beginners right next to the main road.  More interesting for most people, however, are the big ski area in Saalbach-Hinterglemm the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski area in Kaprun and the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See

Snowmobil City

In Snowmobil City fun and action await you on a specially prepared snowmobile course and you also have the chance to ride on a Snowcat.


Check out our Tips section in the menu. You can book organized tours to the most beautiful sights in SalzburgerLand through the Viehhofen tourist information office (offered in cooperation with Vorderegger Travel). Tour programs are also available through Alpentouristik


Swimming is possible in Viehhofen in the solar-heated outdoor pool on the Hecherhütte for restaurant guests. In the neighboring towns there are outdoor and indoor pools, in the summer attracts the Zeller See. A special highlight is the new Tauern Spa in Kaprun.


There are several taxi companies in the valley. Ask you landlord or at the Tourist Office.


At the entrance to town is an outdoor sand court. Depending on the weather, the season there is from the beginning or end of April until October.

With your Guest Card, you can play at the same price available to club members.


Toboggan run at the Reiterkogel (lit until 11 pm) is included in the ski pass.  At the toboggan run at the Biberg in Saalfelden you get a reduction with the Viehhofen guestcard.
